Robin - Year 1

Welcome to Robin Class!

Mrs Shepard, Mrs de Leeuw and Mrs Simons would like to welcome you to our class.

We will add pictures and information regularly to the website, so please visit to find out what we are learning.

P.E. is on Monday.

Homework is due in on Thursday.

Mrs Tasker very kindly changes our reading books regularly; if at all possible, she will change them almost every day. Please make sure daily reading is recorded in the reading record and that children always bring this to school. Children are rewarded with ticks every time they read at home.

We all had a great day in Bristol visiting the MShed museum and dressing up as pirates to sail on the Matthew.

Thank you to all of you who gave up your time to join the Robins for their Inspire Morning. They had such a great time working with their families. I hope you all had fun too!

We had a lovely walk through the bluebell woods with Woodpecker Class. The children loved exploring the woods and looking out for animals and plants. The bluebells were beautiful!

It was lovely to welcome so many families to our class this week for Easter bonnets. We had great fun and the bonnets look fantastic!

Thank you to Alfie's mum for bringing her lambs to meet the Robins. They were so cute and cuddly! The lambs enjoyed exploring our garden.

We were allowed to stroke them.

They drank out of special bottles and we gave them a drink of milk.

On World Book Day, the sun came out so the Robins went outside and found sunny places to read their favourite books!

In English, we have learned a poem called 'My Brother's Teddy'. The children brought their teddies, and other soft toys, to school and they joined in with lessons.

Our collection of bricks is very popular at the moment and the children are collaborating in groups to create different structures to use in their play.

In our Guided Reading lessons, we take part in different activities every day. We always work hard!

Our Class Assembly is on Wednesday 18th January. We look forward to seeing you there! The assembly is at 2.30 p.m.

We were very excited to meet out new friends in Spain. They are from Barcelona and we used Skype to talk to them. They asked us questions in English and we took turns to answer them. They speak Catalan so we will learn a song in Catalan to sing to them.

In our Maths lessons we have been using different equipment to help us to add and subtract.

In Literacy this week we have been reading about autumn walks and exploring our garden and playground. We acted out events from the nature ramble through the woods in our book and pretended to find heavy logs, sleeping hedgehogs and squirrels up in the trees.

The children have settled in well and made a great start to the year.
