Week 4 Home Learning - Kestrel
Find below a timetable and everything you will need for home learning this week
English - Week Four
I have loved seeing your English work for the past two weeks. You have planned and written a wonderful letter and a powerful first person recount. Have a look at the bottom of this page to see just some of the examples.
This week you will be focusing on writing a persuasive letter. After exploring various writing tools, you will then be using your excellent skills to produce a letter for the Education Secretary. The lessons are going to be video based to help support your learning and ensure that your learning is more independent. You will be completing tasks throughout the video lessons which you can either do in your exercise books (which you can collect from school) or on pieces of paper.
You will find the links for the learning videos in the ‘Home Learning for Kestrel’ file at the top of this page.
For those that might not have complete access to the internet/devices or simply do not wish to have as much screen time, I have also produced alternative English. It is another English writing journey (similar to the one you have been doing for the past two weeks). If you would prefer to give this a go, then please do.
Maths - Week Four
White Rose Maths are providing worksheets along with video tutorials which cover the areas in maths that we would normally be doing in class. The videos, worksheets and answers can now be found here on the class page. Just click on your year group.
If you find the Year 6 maths too tricky, please give they Year 5 maths a go.
Topic - Geography
This week we will be starting our new geography topic. We will start this topic this week by looking at the world's hemispheres, the different time zones around the world and the Arctic and Antarctic. In the week's leading up to half term, we will then turn our attention to South America. Please find the videos in the home learning document at the top of the page.
Virtual School Library
Every week a popular children's author or illustrator will provide you with free books, exclusive videos and their top three recommended reads.
Having access to a school library is really important for children. School libraries nurture a love of reading that can enrich children’s literacy skills, academic achievements and mental wellbeing. Our Virtual School Library will complement existing school libraries and will ensure that children have access to the magical world of stories all year round, whether they are learning at school or at home.
