Week 5 (01.02.21)

Week 5

Another fantastic week of home learning Kestrels! I have really loved seeing all of your hard work that you have sent to me on Seesaw. You are all doing amazingly well! Please find the timetable and home learning for week 5 down below.

Please try to send me the work you complete on Seesaw so I can post pictures of some of it on our class page. Have a look at the bottom of this page for just some of this weeks fantastic work.

Children's Mental Health Week

Children’s Mental Health Week is taking place on 1-7 February 2021. This year's theme is Express Yourself.

Expressing yourself is about finding ways to share feelings, thoughts, or ideas, through creativity. This could be through art, music, writing and poetry, dance and drama, photography and film, and doing activities that make you feel good.

It’s important to remember that being able to express yourself is not about being the best at something or putting on a performance for others. It is about finding a way to show who you are, and how you see the world, that can help you feel good about yourself.

For Children's Mental Health Week 2021 we will be encouraging children (and adults) to explore the different ways we can express ourselves, and the creative ways that we can share our feelings, our thoughts and our ideas.

English - Week Five

This week you will be continuing your work on writing a persuasive letter. The lessons are going to be video based to help support your learning and ensure that your learning is more independent. You will be completing tasks throughout the video lessons which you can either do in your exercise books (which you can collect from school) or on pieces of paper.

You will find the links for the learning videos in the ‘Home Learning for Kestrel’ file at the top of this page.

For those that might not have complete access to the internet/devices or simply do not wish to have as much screen time, I have also produced alternative English. It is another English writing journey (similar to the one you have been doing for the past two weeks). If you would prefer to give this a go, then please do. Second week of this writing journey is now available on the class page.

Alternative English (week 2 of writing journey)

Maths - Week Four

White Rose Maths are providing worksheets along with video tutorials which cover the areas in maths that we would normally be doing in class. The videos, worksheets and answers can now be found here on the class page. Just click on your year group.

If you find the Year 6 maths too tricky, please give they Year 5 maths a go.

Topic - Geography

For the next couple of weeks we are going to be looking at South America. Before Christmas, we looked at North America and you produced some brilliant work. Have a look at our display below:

Find the lessons for South America on the home learning document at the top of the page. There will be activities for you to do during these videos as well as worksheets for you to complete in the topic folder on this page.

Virtual School Library

Every week a popular children's author or illustrator will provide you with free books, exclusive videos and their top three recommended reads.

Having access to a school library is really important for children. School libraries nurture a love of reading that can enrich children’s literacy skills, academic achievements and mental wellbeing. Our Virtual School Library will complement existing school libraries and will ensure that children have access to the magical world of stories all year round, whether they are learning at school or at home.

Just some of the fantastic week that I have been sent over the past week
